Aluminium-zinc coating (AZ) is applied by dipping steel into a bath of molten metal consisting of 55% aluminium, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. This specific formula is designed to combine the toughness and self-healing properties of zinc with the rust-resisting properties of aluminum.
